Is it too personal too ask people what cologne/perfume they're wearing?

I know with friends it's OK, but I'm talking about strangers. For example, with my job I meet people every day and yesterday I met a guy that I really liked his cologne and would of liked to get it for myself but thought it would sound weird asking what he had on. What's the norm on this subject?Is it too personal too ask people what cologne/perfume they're wearing?
I ask people this all the time. Some women get a weird look on their face and say ';I don't know'; and some just refuse to tell me. Which I really don't understand why you wouldn't want to tell someone what perfume you're wearing. Other women smile and say thanks. It all depends. People are weird about certain things.Is it too personal too ask people what cologne/perfume they're wearing?
People typically take it as a compliment if you ask them in a positive way. You have to make it clear that you are not asking because you don't like their scent. Ensure that you ask in a way that makes it clear you enjoy the scent and would like to purchase it for yourself.
Well, how would you feel if a stranger asked you? Would it bother you? If I like some other guys cologne, I'll ask ';Dude, that's some killer smellin' cologne you're wearin' - what is it?'; Although I'm a 45 yo guy, I find women I don't know, seem to be a little impressed when I mention ';Is that your perfume I'm smellin'? That really smells good!'; And then I just go on my way as to not make them think I'm making a pass at them or something.
I'm always asking people this question! Just say something like, ';Oh, that smells nice, what is it?'; Most people, especially guys, are really flattered that someone has noticed so just be brave and ask!
I wouldn't think it's weird. Just ask ';That smells really nice, what is it?'; or you can put it differently, but I don't think it's too personal. I'd think of it like a compliment(:
listen pretend im you talking to him i would say hi whatsoever your name im ..... [get familiar] then complement them on their stuff then say were did you get it
it is not rude to say hello, if they want to talk back they will, then you can compliment their scent and ask what it is
Its OK to ask unless you are visiting a stable an animal rendering plant or a hide tannery at the time that you are asking. WHEW!
I ask strangers. They don't mind. It's not rude. In fact, it's a compliment.
Just ask and if they dont tell you then you have not lost anything and if they do then hell you got a new cologne.
Nope it's not rude. Just say ';That smells nice. What is it?';
